ABOUT US

Kia ora, I’m James Charlesworth, a student passionate about helping people and protecting the environment. I founded BestNow, a not-for-profit business, through Westlake Boys High School’s Openground young entrepreneurs program. The idea began while working at my local supermarket, where I saw large amounts of perfectly good food thrown away each week.

Inspired by this waste and the pressures of New Zealand’s cost of living crisis, I started Best Now to feed families, not landfills. We rescue close-to-expiry, surplus, and damaged-package goods from retailers and make them affordable for households.

With guidance from mentors including Greig Buckley, Ant Ford, and Andrew Charlesworth.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to fight food wastage and help families across New Zealand by providing access to affordable groceries.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to minimise food waste and support New Zealand families by making affordable groceries accessible through the rescue and redistribution of good food that would otherwise go to landfill.
